Verwood Chamber have once again set about to help the local community by raising funds for the much wanted Active Games For All fund.
It was at the latest Keeping It Local event, held on the 1st August at The Hub, where local businesses kindly donated prizes for a raffle where all the proceeds would go towards AGFA.
AGFA are working tirelessly to raise money so that an area can be put onto the Verwood Memorial Recreation Ground to provide a play and fitness area for all ages. Research shows that in other towns, such facilities have reduced unsociable behaviour and crime and we believe it will also enhance the community and friendliness that is so special in Verwood.
The total money raised at the Keeping It Local event was £210.20.
Vicky Williams, the first lady chairperson of Verwood Chamber in its 43 year history said ‘it’s a delight for Verwood Chamber to support such a worthwhile and important community project. Our donation is a small amount compared to what they need but we will be helping to promote their cause in many ways in the coming year, and if we all help a little bit they will soon get there.’
Verwood Chamber raise money for many charities and will continue to do this work alongside providing the local businesses the support they need.
